第31卷第5期水道港口Vol.31 No.52010年10月Journal of Waterway and HarborOct. 2010Water resources development in TurkeyBulent Acma(Department of Economics Unit of Southeasterm Anaolia Project ,Anadolu Universiy,Eshisehir 26470, Turkey)Abstract :The Southeasterm Anatolia Project( GAP) ,one of the most important projects for developing remark-able natural resources of the world, is accepted as a change for getting benefit from rich water and agriculturalresources of the Southeastem Anatolia Region.The GAP Project has been considered as a regional developmentprojects through years , but the dimensions of sustainability , protection of environment and participatory have beenattached to the master of the project in recent years. When the GAP Project is completed,the Upper Mesopotomia,the centers of many civilisation, will re-again its impotance 8as it had in the ancient times,and will be alive acenter of civilisation.Moreover , when the problem of water shortage and water supplies in the world for the futureis kept in mind, the importance of Southeastermn Anatolia's water supplies will be doubled.For this reason, theCAP Project,developed by depending on water and natural resources of the region, will have an important placein the world.The aim of this study is to introduce the region with rich natural resources and the GAP Project.Forthis reason, frstly ,the natural potential of the region will be introduced.Second, the GAP Project will be presentedin details.In the third stage , the projects being processed for protecting the natural sources and environment willbe analyzed.In the last stage ,strategies and policies to develop and to protect the natural resources of the regionin short, mid, and long terms will be proposed.Key words:natural and water resources;Turkey ;Southeasterm Anatolia Region;Southeasterm Anatolia Project(GAP)中圈分類號:TV 213.9文獻標識碼:A文章編號: 1005- -8443(2010)05 -0544 -01中國煤化工MHCNMHGBiography: Bulent Acma( 1961- ), male , professor of Anadolu University.E-mail:bacma@anadolu.edu.tr
